My 3 nights 2 days stay in Miami

Finishing up work in Pittsburgh and heading to Miami seems like a good idea for many, especially during the winter.  But parking your car at an unsafe venue can be stressful during your vacation. Extended parking services like the one available at Pittsburgh airport parking makes me feel more secure. Once parked safely, now you can feel rest assured and ready for a vacation.

Miami is a little jewel on the Florida Peninsula. It’s famous for its salubrious climate, its pristine waters and the fabulous Art Deco architecture on the beach. Natural beauty abounds here. I spent 3 nights and 2 days in Miami and simply enjoyed it.

How can one think of the city without thinking of the great Everglades National Park? A short drive from Miami is this unique land of delights. Spread over 1.5 million acres, the National Park is swamplands that have some fierce animals who call it home. Think snakes, alligators, and birds. Take a walk along the marked trail (don’t step away from the route!) or even better try the airboat. This high-speed thrilling trip on the water and you can get up close and personal with the wildlife from a safe point. If you like you can go to the Alligator Farm at Everglades to understand this fascinating creature even better.

A great way to enjoy Miami is the Big Bus Miami Hop-on-Hop-off tour. Take a trip at your convenience; choose from any of the three routes with forty stops and decide when you want to take the bus to the next spot. You can take in the sights from an open top double decker bus. Live commentary will give you information about the places you’re passing. If you’d like, you can do a night tour too.

Miami is all about the beach- Miami Beach. This municipality is an island and boasts of some gorgeous beaches. It’s not easy on the pocket but has high-end stores, shops, restaurants, and hotels. Or just lie down on the beach and sunbathe. While you’re here, you can’t miss the Art Deco District. Eye-popping colors, neon signs, and awnings, all take you back to the 1920s and 30s. Take a walk on Ocean Drive to enjoy these beauties, among which are the Roy F France building, Ocean Drive and the Beacon by Henry O Nelson. The other hugely popular beach is South Beach.

Your time can also be well spent at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. This breathtaking home is where James Deering, the industrialist used to spend his winters. The architecture is splendid and the house is built around a courtyard. Get here to see art and furniture from a different era. A shining example of Renaissance art and architecture, the 28-acre estate contains statuary and fountains. Steps lead to the Biscayne Bay where you can rest your eyes on the waters.

Sports is in the air at Miami with its NBA team, Miami Heat. The American Airlines Arena is its home, the venue for huge music concerts and performances. What’s even better is that the Arena is energy efficient and has been awarded the Leed Green Building Certification.

Miami has other things too- the zoo, Deering Estate – an endangered pine rock land habitat, Jungle Island (a wildlife sanctuary), the Seaquarium, and museums. Have a good time on your short visit!
